Stamford Bridge was a fording point over the River Derwent for a Roman settlement, but nowadays is a town with a selection of shops and restaurants. The village is the site of the Battle of Stamford Bridge on 25 September 1066, which marked the end of the Viking era in Britain.

    Very warm and cosy. Would love to sit in the enclosed garden in the summer. Safe for the dog. Lots of extra bits, games, jigsaws and books but only found after a few days. Big telly with multiple channels. Nice touch with fresh milk and fabulous parkin.

    We found everything we needed there and enjoyed our visit. The hosts, Rose and Colin, are very friendly and can be relied upon to give help immediately where needed. There is secure off-road parking.
